Discover Mid-America and its parent company Discovery Publications Inc. does not give, rent, exchange or sell its mailing and/or email lists to anyone. We are committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to our Web site.

We do not collect or use any personal information on visitors to our Web site through the use of “cookies” or other software or hardware techniques. In order to better understand our readers our Web host does provide us with certain server statistics. We look at the number of hits the site receives, broken down by month, week, day and hour. We also keep track of the domains from which this site is accessed, the top 20 organizations/ISPs that are used to connect to this site and the top 20 referrers (the last page you were on before you connected to this site). To gauge what our viewers are interested in, we also look at the top 20 search words used in connecting to this site. We have the capability to calculate which Discover Mid-America files have been accessed, the types of files, the size of the files requested, the status of those files (i.e. 404 not found etc.) and a breakdown of the operating systems used to access the site.

At times, Discover Mid-America may request information from visitors to our Web site. This information may include, but not limited to, name, postal and email address, age, sex, zip code and opinions and/or choices concerning what departments/columns/features are accessed on our Web site. Responding to such requests are voluntary and on an opt-in basis.

Persons on the Discover Mid-America email list will periodically be notified via email of new information and editorial copy (stories, profiles, events, etc.) available at the Web site. This information may include items dealing with our advertisers.

We will independently object to overly broad requests for access to information about users of our Web site. If you do not challenge the disclosure request, we may be legally required to turn over your information.
